The Role
The Design & Drafting Manager is responsible for the coordination of all Design & Drafting resources including preparing, scheduling, coordinating, monitoring and reporting of Drafting & Design activities, as well as creation and implementation of Drafting & Design management strategies, processes, policies and procedures.
The role requires implementation of high-quality engineering solutions using best Engineering, Drafting & Design practices, standards and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Design & Drafting resources, scheduling and activities to effectively manage the delivery of engineering deliverables.
- Manage Design & Drafting resources, performance, budgeting and periodic forecasting.
- Define and manage priorities against the available capacity of Design & Drafting resources.
- Facilitate design development, change and functionality.
- Formulate Drafting & Design management strategies, process, policies and plans.
- Development & standardisation of Engineering, Drafting and Design documentation.
- Review and approvals of Drafting & Design documentation.
About You:
- Strong understanding of Engineering, Drafting and Design principles
- Tertiary and/or Post Graduate qualification in Engineering
- Technical Writing Experience
- Supervisory and Project Management experience
- Highly developed people management skills with an ability to communicate at all levels
- Excellent time management skills, conflict resolution abilities and experience in managing the requirements of technical persons in facilitating a project (technical input and management of technical risk)
- Sound understanding of statutory, industry standards and specifications
