We have a new opportunity for a Senior Controls Systems Engineer who will lead the design and engineer project specific solutions within the Engineering and Design division, to meet our requirements of Pacific Energy Renewables (PER) and the end user.

You will be involved in many aspects including but not limited to - the design, implementation and testing of high-quality solutions using engineering applications for Historians, SCADA, OT Networks, PLCs, RTUs, BESS and PV inverters.

This role will be based in our Darwin or Perth offices.

To be part of this change this role will:

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, development, and design of control systems
  • Lead a team of engineers by providing guidance and assign resources and tasks to specific projects, scheduling work activities  
  • Perform engineering design and related duties through the entire project life cycle (concept to commissioning), including control system software development (PLC, SCADA, inverters, and generators), equipment specifications and selection, schematic and wiring design and testing of software by working with other team members
  • Provide senior engineering review of documentation and specifications
  • Develop and review of technical documentation including Functional Descriptions and system architectures (OT) in industrial automation
  • Redline and revise drawings including review of technical specification and relevant standards to ensure the engineering design is compliant
  • Develop Inspection Test Plans/Records (ITPs), ITRs and Commissioning Plans
  • Liaise with engineers, electricians, supervisors, consultants, and external developers
  • Liaise with external clients as well as internal stakeholders including divisional engineers, supervisors and electricians
  • Commission (FAT) at Pacific Energy Renewables or client’s premises
  • Travel to site to commission (SAT) control systems
  • Mentoring graduate and junior control systems engineers

BE this person

As part of the solution, you will have:

  • Solid experience in control system engineering field including design
  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering
  • Software development experience
  • Experience with variety of PLC, DCS, RTU and telemetry products from various manufacturers
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols
  • Experience working in Power Generation Industry, High Voltage Substations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and strong initiative
  • Chartered Professional Engineer preferred
